Ontario curriculum alignment

A practical closest-fit guide—not a report card.

Alphablocks is a UK learning series, not an Ontario Ministry of Education resource. The levels here are an independent alignment based on the dominant literacy skill in each episode. Children develop at different rates, so use the labels as a conversation starter, not a limit.

Kindergarten (2026)

Closest fit: the Demonstrating Literacy and Mathematics Behaviours frame—letter knowledge, sound awareness, oral language, early word reading, and making meaning from text.

Grades 1–2 (2023)

Closest fit: Language Strand B, Foundations of Language—phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling patterns, morphology, vocabulary, fluency, syntax, and conventions.

How completeness was checked

The episode order was reconciled against the official Blocks Universe guide and broadcast listings. Every YouTube URL was availability-checked, then all 129 playlist positions were compared ID-by-ID with the master list.

Why nine videos are not official uploads

Nine original 2010 episodes do not currently have standalone uploads on the official Alphablocks channel. Exact surviving YouTube copies are used so the journey stays complete, and every one is marked “Legacy copy” in the guide.
